What Reverse Phone Lookup Is Used For

If you have caller ID and have received a phone call with nobody on the other end, the call was a harassing phone call, or the caller was mysteriously disconnected, there is something you can do to find out just who the person was that placed the call. This is called the reverse phone lookup, also known as the greypages or the reverse telephone directory. You can soon learn the identity of the caller.

The reverse phone directory works much like a regular phone directory. With the standard phone directory you take the persons name and with this information you can often get their address as well as their phone number. Of course, this doesn’t help much if you don’t have the persons name. This is where the reverse comes into play.

Rather than entering a name into the search directory, you are placing the telephone number that you are looking to search for. For telephone numbers that are listed, you will be rewarded with the results of a name and sometimes an address.

This tool is very useful in both business and for personal home use. Many times we get phone calls when we aren’t available and people don’t leave a message. However, if you have caller ID and capture their phone number, you can make a quick search of their number and turn up with their name as well. These searching tools are available on the Internet.

This is also a system used by law enforcement as well as emergency medical professionals. This helps increase the chance of being found when you call emergency but for one reason or another you cannot speak.

Reverse phone lookup also works when you call emergency and hang up the phone before speaking. When there is no response from you, an emergency vehicle is dispatched to your location. This works for both home and businesses alike.
